Poor battery life on your Gate Smart Lock can be attributed to several things. First, check that Gate’s battery voltage is reporting correctly. In the app, choose the “Settings” tab. Next select “About this Gate” and scroll down to the Battery Statistics section. If the voltage is above 3.6 V, the light on the back of the battery pod should be blinking green. If the voltage listed is between 3.0 V and 3.6 V, the light on the back of the battery pod should be blinking orange. If the voltage is below 3.0 V, the light on the back of the battery pod should be red. If you see any inconsistencies between the reported voltage and the color of the blinking light on the back of the battery pod, please reach out to us at support@gatelabs.co.
Second, verify that your motion sensitivity settings are appropriate for your environment. Video recordings of unnecessary motion activity will drain the battery. If you live in an apartment or similar living environment and have lots of activity for Gate to pick up, you may want to adjust your settings to “Low” or “Medium”, allowing Gate to only pick up activity near your door. If adjusting the motion sensitivity does not improve your battery life sufficiently, please reach out to us at support@gatelabs.co for further help.
